【摘要】:Theflashpointmeasurestheresponseofthesampletoheatandflameundercontrolledlaboratoryconditions.Itisonlyoneofanumberofpropertiesthatmustbeconsideredinassessingtheoverallflammabilityhazardofamaterial.Asaresultofphysicalfactorsinherentintheapparatusandprocedure,theclosedcupflashpointdoesnotnecessarilyrepresenttheminimumtemperatureatwhichamaterialcanevolveflammablevapors,andtheabsenceofaflashpointdoesnotguaranteenonflammability(seeAppendixX1andAppendixX2).Flashpointisusedinshippingandsafetyregulationstodefineflammableandcombustiblematerials.TestMethodsD56,D93,andD3278arespecifiedastestmethodsfordeterminingtheflashpointofthesematerials.5.4Iftheprocessorhandlingconditionsdictatetheusageofaflammablematerialattemperaturesrangingupwardfrom5to10x00B0;Cbelowtheclosed-cupflashpoint,thenaflammablevapormightbepresentabovetheliquid.Insuchcases,itmaybemoreappropriatetousethetemperaturelimitofflammability(asdeterminedbyTestMethodE1232)insteadofflashpoint.Smallscalemethodsinvolvingequilibriumproceduresandonlyoneflamepassperspecimenarepreferred.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftheflashpointofliquidandsolidchemicalcompoundsflashingfrombelowx2212;10to370x00B0;C(16to700x00B0;F).TheproceduresandapparatusinTestMethodsD56,D93,D3278,D3828,andD3941aretobeused.Modificationtotheseproceduresarespecifiedfortestsonsolidsandviscousliquids.Thesignificanceoftheresultsobtainedisdiscussedalongwithpossiblesourcesoferrorandfactorsthatmightcauseinterference.1.2Suggestionsforadaptingthisproceduretomixturesofchemicalsareincluded(seeAppendixX2).1.3Thistestmethodshouldbeusedtomeasureanddescribethepropertiesofmaterials,products,orassembliesinresponsetoheatandflameundercontrolledlaboratoryconditionsandshouldnotbeusedtodescribeorappraisethefirehazardorfireriskofmaterialsorassembliesunderactualfireconditions.However,resultsofthistestmethodmaybeusedaselementsofafireriskassessmentthattakeintoaccountallofthefactorsthatarepertinenttoanassessmentofthefirehazardofaparticularenduse.1.4WARNINGx2013;MercuryhasbeendesignatedbyEPAandmanystateagenciesasahazardousmaterialthatcancausecentralnervoussystem,kidneyandliverdamage.Mercury,oritsvapor,maybehazardoustohealthandcorrosivetomaterials.Cautionshouldbetakenwhenhandlingmercuryandmercurycontainingproducts.SeetheapplicableproductMaterialSafetyDataSheet(MSDS)fordetailsandEPAx2019;swebsitex2013;http://www.epa.gov/mercury/faq.htm-foradditionalinformation.Usersshouldbeawarethatsellingmercuryand/ormercurycontainingproductsintoyourstatemaybeprohibitedbystatelaw.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.SeealsoSection8.
